THIRD-PARTY FILTERING PROGRAMS

Even though Internet Explorer offers limited web browser security features, more advanced security and filtering can be found with third party programs that can be purchased and installed.

Numerous security programs are available: Content Protect, CYBERsitter, NetNanny, and Cyber Patrol. Many provide different features and options. Always remember that any program is better than not using one at all.

When looking for the right program, consider ease of use, filtering technique, activity reporting, and port filtering/blocking. Some vendors provide trial versions available for download from its’ web site while some are free. Always try a program before you buy if possible. Also check with your ISP to see what it can provide for personal filtering options or for recommended programs.
